Electric Vehicle Programs in Minnesota

The use of electric vehicles increases each year. In order to be ready for this transition, Minnesota has created a number of pilot programs to get us ready for this transition. Minnesota has a number of programs in place to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles and promote the growth of alternative fuels, and prepare our infrastructure to accommodate these changes.

EV Toll Credit Program

To incentive Minnesota residents to purchase a new or used hybrid or electric vehicle the state is offering toll credits for a limited time. For each new or used hybrid electric vehicle purchased, the buyers will be given a $125 MnPass credit for use in MnPass toll lanes. For new or used fully electric vehicles the toll credit is $250.

EV Home Charging Station Rebates

Rebates for the installation of a home charging station are available from many of your local electrical utilities. The size and availability of the rebates can vary substantially from place to place so be sure to check with your local electric company to find out whether you qualify.
